Tahiti- 25 July 2024

We slept well but we were woken by chatting on the boat next door or I was. I then wrote yesterday’s blog which I had not written the day before.

It was a lovely sunny morning and we had a lot to do. We had a quick breakfast and the maintenance man from Tahiti crew so I explained to him what I needed to be done. He then went off to find tradesman to do the work required. In the meantime, it was our time to clean the interior which needed a good seeing to.

This took us a few hours and I decided to replace the red baron with the blue baron under the forward bunks. This was good as we had had the Blue Baron in the saloon for some time. Now it feels as if we have got the room back. The clean up took most of the morning. However, Andy and I took the gas cylinder to the petrol station to be refilled and we took the laundry to the launderette. At the petrol station there was a supermarket and we bought two baguettes.

When we returned to Stormbird we had a light lunch. We then carried on doing jobs and then Andy and I walked to Carrefour which was 5 minutes away. This was very large and it was like going into a candy shop as everything was there- unlike any shop we have been into since Panama. We bought some food for what we required and some extra provisions for Stormbird.

The man to help with the generator and the engine came and I explained everything to him and he was fine with that so that was a relief. There was little of the afternoon left and so we went for happy hour at the bar and then we returned to Stormbird for a fresh tuna and broccoli which was good.

As most days in marinas there is lots to do but we plan to explore the Island and have arranged some car hire. We look forward to exploring this island over the next few days.

The picture of the day is our view towards Morea the island which is 20 nm away.

Crewing Opportunity Year Two

In addition, in year two I will be going from New Zealand in early January 2025 across to Sydney and up the Eastern Australian Coast, Indonesia and probably across the Indian Ocean to Cape Town and I will need some more crew.
