Our Route

The ‘Alan Phillips Route’

“He calls it the Milk Run Route’ - the easiest, warmest, and safest route with a minimum of hardship and a maximum of pleasure.”

Year One

13.000 nautical miles

  • From the Canaries, across the Atlantic to the Caribbean (probably Barbados then Bequia, Grenadines and Grenada as I have sailed some of the Northern parts of the Caribbean before).

  • Caribbean Sea, probably via some of the Venezuelan Islands, ABC Islands, San Blas Islands and then through the Panama Canal.

  • Galapagos, Marquesas, French Polynesia, to Cook Islands and through to Tonga or Fiji

  • Continue on to New Zealand, arrive by mid-November 2024. Xmas and New Year will be spent here in New Zealand.

Year Two

5,000 nautical miles

  • Commencing January 2025, leave New Zealand to Sydney and slowly move North up the Eastern Australian coast, Whitsundays, Barrier Reef, and Darwin.

  • Over to Indonesia and travel through the islands, on to Malaysia, Singapore and ending up in Thailand in November 2025.

If this is not possible due to piracy and safety concerns, then in year two we will head from Darwin, in Australia, into Indonesia and then down through the Indian Ocean probably via Chagos, Cocos Keeling, Madagascar and then stop in Cape Town for Christmas 2025.

Year Three

9,000 nautical miles

  • Subject to piracy and safety concerns, leave Thailand in January 2026 for Sri Lanka, Maldives, India and then up through the Red Sea and through the Suez Canal.

  • We will then cruise the Mediterranean before returning home end of Summer 2026.

In year three we would come back via Brazil, the Caribbean and then the Azores/Canaries and into the Mediterranean making use of trade winds to cross the major oceans and avoid hurricanes.
