Time to Chill

It was still blowing when we woke but there were only a few boats anchored before we would be descended on by the tourist groups. As we had to be in Portimão in the evening we decided to return to Ponta Sao Jao Arens for lunch and resting. This did not take long and we were soon anchored in the lovely bay gently bobbing in the small swell. We had to make water with our water maker en route otherwise we could have run out. It makes about 225-250 lts an hour.

Swims and paddleboarding were the order of the day and we had an enjoyable lunch of cheeses and salads etc. Mark made some fresh bread and chocolate brownies.  It was hot, the sky was blue and the water icy cold. It was going a lovely day and a lot calmer as the wind reduced.

We decided to have supper in Ferugado (we have been there several times before and even when the kids were very young) one of the nicest and most genuine fishing villages in the whole of the Algave. Francesca booked a restaurant right on the front so we were looking forward to a fish supper. So we set off about 5.00pm and were safely anchored near Ferugado by 6.00pm.

We went ashore early and meandered around the charming streets and shops before we arrived at the restaurant at the booked time. We left the dinghy by a ladder and hoped we had factored in enough the fall of tide.

The supper was delicious of John Dory, clams, giant prawns and cataplana washed down with some fruity wine. A memorable meal. With a smile on our faces we returned to find the dinghy on the bottom on its side.  I had to climb down and push it off so I could return to the steps to get everyone on board.

It had been a calmer and more chilled day. Thoughts began to turn to the next crew and whether we were to try to get to Malaga and risk meeting the orcas.
