25 December 2024 -New Zealand- South Island -Queenstown

Happy Christmas to all who reads this. I hope you have a great day wherever you are. In particular, Festive Greetings to all our families and friends who we cannot be with this year.

We woke to grey Xmas morning and relaxed and got ready for our Christmas Lunch which was at The Boardwalk in town. As is tradition I put on a red shirt and Jules did the same. We walked down into town and it seemed like a normal day here. There were a lot of people on the beach, some swimming or playing games. There were very few people in festive dress but just the odd Christmas hat. Some shops were open and there were vendors selling burgers and fast food.  You would never know it was Christmas day.

We got to our restaurant and had a nice bottle of champagne and had a good table overlooking the lake. We had crackers and put on our silly hats and laughed at the terrible jokes they include within them. We had a nice 3 course lunch and took our time and then once done we ventured outside.  

The jet boats were now underway and we had seen them from our table. You would have thought it was an ordinary day for a lot of people. We were still full of festive spirit and had a nice walk around part of the lake and then returned to our villa where we opened some presents we had been given which was nice and made us think of home and the usual Christmas traditions.

We watched films and had a light supper and then when it was late enough we phoned all our loved ones at home as their Christmas day was just starting. We wished them a Happy Christmas. The rain came here at 6.00pm so it had held off for the day and did not affect us.

Need/Opportunity Year Two

In year two I will be going from New Zealand to Sydney and hen up the Eastern Australian Coast, Indonesia and then through Bali, Singapore and on to Thailand to end year two about the end of November 2025.
