Puerto Mogan 2.0

The night was ok with the anchor alarm going off one time, but we were fine.

Most of us had a swim and then breakfast and we headed ashore to Puerto Mogan and we had expectations of its market. We found a spot to moor the dinghy and wandered around the town which was initially fairly quiet and the market stalls were going up. We found a place to have a coffee in the back streets as Ben likes to try the local places. It was fine but with no view.

We then wandered around the market and were disappointed. Most of it was tat, tee-shirts, shoes, wallets and the usual cheap type market things. There were no proper fruit and veg stalls or meat and fish. The fish monger was closed although they said it would open at 12 and it never did open when we were there. It became clearer that the market was obviously an opportunity to draw in the tourist as it became very busy.

We wandered around and decided to have a drink on the front and to try to have lunch at the same fish restaurant we did last time (see blog regarding 31 August 2023 which also tells you more about Puerto Mogan). We had a drink in a bar opposite where the man had wanted us to moor the day before. It was clear to me that I had made the right decision not to try and get into that space.

Puerto Mogan was heaving and it rather took away the enjoyment of the place which seemed a lot nicer with fewer people. However, there it is and it is the holiday season and people want to enjoy themselves. We therefore decided to head off to our restaurant early as we had rung and were told we could not reserve. We got there and waited to speak to a waiter to be sat at a table. Others just walked in and sat down! However, we were lucky to get a table outside which was good just in front of some English people who tried to push in front of us. It was a great table overlooking the harbour and we had a great lunch of assorted different fresh fish etc. We chatted and enjoyed the moment.

After lunch we returned to the boat and swam, had naps and chilled. We did not want much of a supper, so I prepared some salad and we had a cheese board which we all enjoyed.

We chatted about moving on the next day to Anfi del Mar so that we can be in new place and so that Alex can get transport to the airport. The sun set providing fantastic light and shadows on the rocks around us.
